The Backgrounding Properties:

New Norcia Farm is located adjacent to the historic township of New Norcia. The property spans approximately 7,975 ha, features frontage to the Moore River, and is located 132 km north of Perth in Western Australia.

Koojan Farm is a 10,000 ha property located approximately 30 km from Moora and 160 km north of Perth, operating as a key backgrounding property within the Harvest Road Group portfolio.

The Role:

We are seeking permanent, full-time Backgrounding Livestock Hands to join our friendly and supportive teams based at New Norcia Farm and Koojan Farm.

In this role, you will be involved in the daily backgrounding and care of cattle, playing an important part in maintaining animal welfare standards and supporting efficient property operations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Daily cattle husbandry activities, including feeding programs and cattle movements
  • Conducting regular paddock checks to monitor livestock health, condition, and grazing
  • Assisting with yard work and general livestock handling
  • Maintaining station infrastructure, including fencing and watering systems
  • Supporting general farm and property operations as required

This role will suit someone who is hands-on, dependable, and willing to contribute positively to a team-focused working environment.

Please note:

  • These are permanent positions and are not suitable for short-term or working holiday visa holders
  • This is not a FIFO role

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A genuine interest in livestock, agriculture, and animal welfare
  • A strong work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow direction
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A strong focus on safety and care when working around livestock and equipment
  • Sufficient physical fitness to safely perform the duties of the role
  • Ability to pass a National Police Clearance and pre-employment medical assessment
